Fresh, fun, and hip branding fashion shoot for clothing boutique, doree's habit | Ottawa, ON | Commercial Photography

In the picturesque small towns of Almonte, ON and Merrickville, ON, lives a perfect little clothing shop named doree's habit.  Owned and operator by the super-chic Brodie O'Connor, doree's habit is a mecca for the girl who loves clothes.  Each piece in the store is carefully curated and selected by Brodie (a girl who herself loves clothes), and oozes coolness.  You can't go wrong with clothes from doree's - if you buy it there, you KNOW you're looking fashionable.

Brodie is in the process on launching her on-line shop, which means soon you will be able to shop at doree's from anywhere.  We shot this branding shoot for doree's habit back in the spring.  Check it out!

A Street Dog | Ottawa, ON | My Life

Three and a half years ago, the best thing happened.  We adopted our very own Boston Terrier, named Mickey.  He is our "second born" (our first being a big hairy golden doodle, Ben, also much loved), and came to us from Boston Terrier Rescue of Canada.  He'd been found on the streets, starving and homeless, as just a wee puppy.  I can't imagine how or why he ended up there, and I try not to dwell on it, because now he is a healthy, happy bundle of love.  But for whatever reason, when I turned the camera towards him, he looks SO SAD!  I don't know why!  I took these photos today while Ben was at the groomers, and added a melancholy edit so go along with sad street dog face.

On the other side of the lens | Ottawa, ON | My Portrait Session

Being a photographer, I rarely find myself in front of the lens.  It's been a great strategy in helping me avoid having to have to my photo taken.  However, not only is having great photos of me vital to my business and in helping my clients get to know me, but I also believe it's incredibly important to experience life on the other side of lens so that I can better serve my clients.  And it's fun!

Last weekend, my friend and fellow photographer, Sarah Evans, and I got together to take some snaps of each other for our respective businesses (you can see the photos of her that I took here).  These are the shots that Sarah took of me (and my horse, Kid, and donkey friend, Jilly).

Blondie Apparel's Dots and Birds | Ottawa, ON | Commercial Photography

The very talented women behind Blondie Apparel contacted me a couple of weeks ago to discuss shooting their fall line of scarves (adorably entitled Dots & Birds).  As a huge fan of their clothing, I was thrilled at the chance to work with the "Blondies."  Last winter I sported a beautiful and very toasty reversible and convertible scarf/cowel from Blondie ALL SEASON (because it was so very cold and scarf was so very warm and cute).  This summer I snatched up one of their gorgeous summer scarves named after my homeland (Maritimes).  And after this shoot, I am going to HAVE to have that black scarf with the flamingos.  Which scarf is your favourite?

Sarah's fun and funky portrait session | Ottawa, ON | Portrait Photography

Last week, my friend and fellow photographer, Sarah Evans of Shoebox Pics, and I got together to take portrait photos of each other for our respective websites.  Sarah is a bad ass gal, who's not only a photographer with a cool and creative eye, but she's an amazing videographer as well.  Armed with a Super 8 (yep, that's film folks), Sarah creates really awesome video with a vintage vibe.  Want video added to your wedding package?  We can do that!  Check out the photos I took of her at a farm just down the road.

Until next time!
